Can I bring my mug/stein/glass back for refill prices the next time I visit?

Yes! It is Christmas Market tradition that guests return for multiple visits with mug and stein in hand! In fact, even glassware from previous years can be brought back for discounted refill prices on beverages all season long.

What is the Christkindl Markt and where is it located? 

The Christkindl Markt is Grand Rapids Downtown Market’s version of a traditional European Christmas market. The Grand Rapids Christkindl Markt takes place outside, adjacent to an enclosed Market Shed which has been turned into a German-style beverage hall serving Glühwein, beer, hot chocolate, and hot cider. Wooden community tables fill this hall for dining and beverage enjoyment. 60 wooden stalls line both sides of the Market Shed housing local, regional, national, and international artisan gift and food vendors. The entire event is illuminated with festive lighting and décor and hosts daily holiday entertainment, curling, children’s activities, s’more roasting fireplaces, private Alpenglobes, and festive family fun.

This event is located in the enclosed Market Shed and surrounding parking lot of the Grand Rapids Downtown Market at 435 Ionia Ave SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.

Pets are allowed outside at the Christkindl Markt! Only service animals are allowed inside the Downtown Market.

What is Photo/Video Policy/Drone Policy

The Grand Rapids Downtown Market and its parking lot are private property. Professional photography and videography, as well as drones of any type, are prohibited.

What is your weather Policy

Welcome to winter in West Michigan, which is always unpredictable! We expect cold temperatures throughout the season. There may also be some snowfall, so please bundle up accordingly. You are more than welcome to head inside the Downtown Market to warm up if needed. We do not plan on canceling due to inclement weather, but in an emergency situation, we will announce it as soon as possible via Christkindl Markt social media channels.

Is there an entrance fee?

There are no entrance fees to attend the Christkindl Markt or to enter the Downtown Market. Food, beverages, and artisan gift items are available for purchase.
